London: The Lab Rats

Recommend a good photo lab in your surrounding area and invite people to come back to your shop with their results. This will not only reassure the customers that film can be easily developed, but it’s also great customer service and makes them return to your store.  Your advice will help them to improve the quality of their pictures and additionally you can be quick to offer them new rolls of film, new product arrivals or to have their best photos hung up in a photo-curtain (see tip from Paris). Furthermore your shop staff should be encouraged to start shooting as well, their pictures could be shown in the shop as sample pictures!

Toronto: The Presentation Experts

People new to Lomography might be overwhelmed by the range of cameras and accessories we offer. So make sure that product families and their corresponding accessories are presented together and that people have a good overview of the Lomography assortment.  Also bundles (e.g. Diana+, flash, lenses…) will help the customers to decide on a camera and with a discount on the whole bundle you’ll create an additional incentive to buy! Don’t forget to have a sample and dummy camera ready so you can demonstrate the cameras to the customers and so they can actually hold it in their hands. Last but not least, put flash filters in the flash of display cameras (Diana F+), this makes it much more attractive too!

L.A.: The Work-Shoppers

Have you noticed that more and more people are asking about film, camera functions and techniques? Why not organize a small Lomography lecture or workshop for them? This will not only attract new people to your store, but you’ll turn the customers into Lomography fanatics and create more general attention for your store. If you have any questions or want support on this, please get in touch with your wholesale manager.

Paris: The Upsellers

Keychains, Fotoclips and film should be placed on your counter as these are great items for upselling.

* Fotoclips: There are more possibilities with Fotoclips than just making photo-curtains! Demonstrate this with creative photo walls in your window display or 3d objects like a lamp shade in your store.

* Keychains: Increase sales by spreading them across the display. If the display is full, people often don’t dare to take them out!

* Film: The more film you order, the more you will sell! Customers will value the choice of film they find at your store and you can always recommend the right film for every occasion e.g. high speed film for a grey winter’s day.
