The Petzval 80.5 Art Lens
The Petzval 80.5 Art Lens
Designed for still and motion photography and boasting beautiful swirly bokeh effects, the Petzval 80.5 Art Lens is worth getting pumped up about. It sports an array of fabulous features including a new helicoid focusing mechanism, a stopless aperture diaphragm and a Waterhouse Aperture System – but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what your fellow Lomographers have to say about the latest addition to the Petzval Art Lens lineage.

"I’m using the Bokeh Control version of the Petzval 80 Art Lens, and having that control over the intensity of the swirling bokeh really stands out to me. It’s great to have the ability to switch from the most intense setting which brings the eye to the subject in the center of the frame, to the least intense setting that allows for less swirl distortion at the edges of the frame. I love that I can get many different looks from this one lens."

"It is a very versatile lens, being an 80 mm it allows you to stay very close to the subject while remaining at a distance and capturing every kind of detail. The thing I like most, though, is the silky effect it gives to the photos, they are soft and watercolor. Plus, the Waterhouse plates are nice to use if you contrast them with lights in different planes."

"This lens fits my creative photo work very much because my interested subject is portrait and flowers. This lens is very helpful in taking pictures of people. It is easy to make my subject stand out from the background and create a beautiful atmosphere in my photos."

"First of all, I appreciate the great finesse in focusing this lens offers as well as the use of Waterhouse apertures. And the use of the Waterhouse apertures is very easy and allows to create a nice bokeh. I like to shoot with the Petzval lens for nature related subjects, like vegetables, insects or little animals, and for now I seek to favor Lomography B&W films.
