Reminisce about the good old days of Lomo LC-A

Who can believe that the little mighty beast of perfection could be all grown up into a young buck of 25 with the world at its feet and at least another glorious 25 years, if not 125 years ahead of it?

25 years…25 years…25 years (cue harp music) let’s take a look back at the glorious birth year of the little fella shall we?

  • The year that fashion rocked with Buffalo Skirts, Pixie Boots, Wide Shoulders, Leather Jackets, Severe Blusher, Skinny Ties, White Socks, well pretty much everything that you’re wearing RIGHT NOW dude!
  • The charts – a delight of classic wonders, my friends. The singles were: The Reflex by Duran Duran, Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, 99 Red Balloons by Nena, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham! and the yuletide classic shmaltz of Do They Know It’s Christmas by Band Aid. They don’t make ‘em like that any more do they?
  • Daryl Hannah was going out with Micky Rourke (my!), Brooke Shields was going out with Michael Jackson (what?) and Jodie Foster was going out with Rob Lowe (WHAT?).
  • In the news: Thatcher was holding hands with Reagan all the way and still had another six years ahead of her in power, Roller Skating and Roller Discos were pretty big, Michael Jackson got burned filming the Pepsi ad, and the new pound coins were introduced to the UK to replace the old pound notes.

Well, we’ve got your attention now haven’t we – you are right there, mentally swimming around in that year! So let’s make this LC-A event a tribute to the year that it was born…you guessed it…let’s make this a dress-up party in the park!

How 1984 are YOU?

Bring all your 80ies thingies out of the closet and into the light - like your shiny white socks, your super futuristic Casio watch or your shoulder padded leather suit and take ALL of your long forgotten friends for a walk in the park.

The Lomography Embassy London will host some mini workshops to guide you through how to get the best out of the loaner Lomography cameras

Next up, we’re in the park to hold a Lomo LC-A RETRO SPORTS DAY! In the spirit of 1984. Games will be simple and fun, so if you’re not sporty don’t fret, there will be something for everyone to achieve in! We won’t let you be that kid who’s left ‘till last to be picked every week.

Bubble Blowing
Hula Hooping
Spin on the Broom racing
What’s not to love about all of these shenanigans?
Plus there will be lots of great little prizes for winners, try-hards and the like.

After some practicing and toughing up those long-forgotten muscles, we’ll try to overcome the limits of gravity by merging in the LomoMatrix. Please take a look at this video to get a first impression:

Next up a Lomo LC-A PICNIC! Your London Embassy will have a drink and a slice of cake for you all but why not bring your own blanket and food for ‘real’ sustenance? Let’s put our picnic blankets together in the spirit of Lomography and in honor of the LC-A and have a great big, mash up, fun, kinda picnic together in the sun.

Lastly, time for the kids to leave but all of us over the merry age of 18 will decamp to another splendid London Embassy Pub ‘The Britannia’ and drink the night away in a Lomo LC-A DRINK UP!

Let’s toast to 25 years of wonderful snapshot Lomography…spread the LC-A LOVE, and let’s get together and show the world that London cares!

Love
The London Embassy

Note
If it’s foul weather then let’s not be silly – we will set up a couple of gazebos and take some fine images but we will hold off on the sports day and hit the pub much earlier than planned. Kids are welcome during the day in the pub too.
