| It’s hard to find a good rangefinder these days. For some time those loud SLRs stole the limelight and then there were the instants and the compacts and to top it off the glitzy digitals. But once you find a good rangefinder you should hold on to it with both hands! |

The Yashica Electro 35 GS is one of the most unfairly underrated cameras around. The first Electro was introduced in Japan back in 1966. Yashica was at the forefront of rangefinder innovation and the Electro sported a unique automatic, electronic, step-less shutter. It received its name and fame from the electro-magnet that controls the speed of this shutter. The Electro’s shots are astoundingly sharp and are guaranteed to knock your socks off! So it’s even more of a shocker that this fantastic all-rounder goes for a snippet of the price of many of its rangefinder pals. Here are some of the secrets behind the Yashica Electro’s success... |

The Yasuhara rangefinders are a cut above the rest. The original screw-mounted T981 was created from the vision and passion of Mr Yasuhara. The world reflected through its rapid 50/2.8, multi-elemented lens is truly stunning. Likewise, with the T012, Yasuhara’s second labour of love! The T012 swapped the screw-mount for a wide-angled lens and sports a LED guided exposure in contrast to its older siblings’s ‘point and shoot’ mechanism. The sad financial collapse of the Yasuhara has meant that the T981 and the T012 are becoming rarer all the time because not many were produced due to the skill and money needed. Both cameras are sophisticated masterpieces which reflect a bygone era of outstanding craftsmanship and must be snapped up before they disappear! Visit the Microsite here: |
