For the fifth time we are invited to present the world of Lomography at the Photokina 2008 in Cologne, Germany. This year we have chosen the theme "The Future is Analogue" both, as a statement of our belief in an analogue future, and a celebration of the unique creative film use coming directly from the one million+ Lomographers, who devote themselves to creative analogue photography, embrace analogue lifestyle, and who are the very core of who we The Lomographic Society International are. This opens up a visual dialogue upon which a base for discussion and development is made. |

To achieve an insight into the Lomographic community's subconscious associations to "analogue", we created a poll on this subject. We wanted to know what Lomographers associate with the terms analogue and digital, how they think about themselves and the way they consider the future. We will be presenting the upshot and the effects of this Lomographers' voice at the Photokina. Following the survey and inspired by its results, Lomographers were called on to submit their images to a worldwide online competition http://www.lomography.com/photokina. |

The submitted images of the Lomographers' individual approaches and examples of the analogue essence, the capabilities of their analogue tools, the wide spectrum of their experiments with film and light, and their vision for the analogue future were then used to create the exhibition that will be presented at the Photokina. The huge LomoWall, featuring 100,000 film photo-prints by Lomographers from all over the world, will be sprawling all over the space of the Lomography world at the Photokina. The LomoWall is just the start. |
