Communi-tips are always welcome!
What's the Lab Commotion?
Yes yes yo! The enthusiastic murmurs coming from the film lab are indeed brought to you by the rat-recruits from the community, who threw on their lab coats and took the risk! In our previous episode we called out for Lomographers who had special skills in experimenting with film, and we were met with a vigorous response! This special edition features a new batch of tried-and-tested tips from the community, and is specially approved by our Film Lab Rat leader Mandi!
Give it a Swirl - by ePug
We’ve all tried drawing mustaches and whiskers on friends’ photos, even blackening a tooth or dotting their faces with ink-acne. ePug has found cool ways to use ink on photo, and we like it!

Method:
  1. Take a roll of till receipt paper and draw swirls on it with a brush and some black ink.

  2. Then shoot. (I use a Seagull for that, as I need at least three stops down for the light to go through the paper. The good thing is that till paper is nearly the right width of 120 film!

  3. Take a 120 roll film, unwind it completely, glue the strip of paper onto the beginning and the end of the film and roll the whole thing back.

Bleach isn’t just for keeping your whites spankin’-clean.
alexdanielspringer reveals the secret power of this mighty fluid with his tip!

“I’ve been experimenting with treating films in different chemicals recently for a university project. There were particularly interesting results with bleach.”

See what he has done to his childhood photos!
“I scanned the old negative and then re-photographed off the screen with a new film, then put THAT film in bleach.”
