With the money raised from all the LomoKikuyu books propping up your bookshelves miraculous things have been achieved! |

The first $10,000 made it possible to fulfil Part One of the mission: to fly Kikuyu doctors, along with mobile clinic, to Dadaab, a refugee camp on the border between Kenya and Somalia. Over just a few days last Autumn, these doctors and assistants took part in a marathon effort where hundreds of needy people received the operation which restored their eye-sight. |

All other money raised went directly (without stopping for breath enroute) to the kikuyu Eye-hospital; allowing them to perform the sight-saving operation to as many patients as possible. |

The LomoKikuyu book has been invaluable to the Light For the World’s mission. The book has raised awareness to the issue, by being the first English language publication to communicate, through words and pictures, the type of projects the charity works on. |

Did you know that 90% of the 37 million sufferers of blindness and the 180 million with a sight-diseases are from developing countries?
75% of the conditions that lead to blindness or impairment are completely curable. Lack of money, doctors, nurses, surgical instruments and infrastructure mean the vast majority of sufferers resign themselves to a life of darkness and dependence on relatives. |
Light For the World had remarkable success in 2006 in helping to restore and prevent blindness in the poorest regions of the world. With your continued support they hope to make 2007 an even bigger year. Through 85 community-based projects throughout Africa, Latin America, Asia and South East Europe, Light For the World have succeeded in saving the eyesight of 30,000 people. The charity also provides aid, care and empowerment for 10,000 children with disabilities. |

LomoKikuyu is a project that we really believe in. As Lomographers we all celebrate the ´everyday wonder´of sight as a way of life. It’s an issue that really deserves shouting about. So tell your people - your boss, work-mates, family, friends, neighbours and the people waiting at the bus-stop. Just buying a beautiful book for $30 can make such a difference – not just to one person, but also to their family and whole community! |
As an extra special ‘thank you’ we will also throw in a free Zenit Doorspy for everyone who snaps up a book from the Lomo online shop. Even students and kids who don’t have so much cash to splash can help! You guys can pick up the book for half-price. $15 is a great contribution!! |

An inventive Lomographer from a German creative agency had the idea to hold a raffle in his firm and sell tickets to his workmates. When the raffle was drawn instead of getting an old bottle of dodgy bubblebath, every winner won a LomoKikuyu book! Now there’s an idea! |
Whether you’re an investment banker, a school teacher, an office worker, a entrepreneour, a policeman, a nurse, a lawyer, a baker or a candlestickmaker….. you can make LomoKikuyu your project by getting your colleagues, students or clients involved.
The more books sold – the more eyesights saved! |
