hello and welcome to the lomo coffee morning book club
Here at the Lomographic Society we have decided to revive the dying concept of the book club. In this digital age, Lomographers proudly fly the flag for the joy of analogue photography. Now we want to do the same for the love of books. Yes, books, pure and simple, complete actual reading and page turning. So as a tribute to our old friend the hardback we have founded the Lomo Coffee Morning Book Club! It's a cosy place where you can get together with some book-loving chums over a cup of coffee and a chocolate biscuit and discuss a selection of contemporary Lomographic literary genius. Here's what happened at our first Coffee Morning Book Club meeting...... Enjoy!
fisheye rumble in the pond "To be honest, I've always had a secret fear and fascination of goldfish. We had one called Mildred when I was a child. That fish was a mutant. It just wouldn't stop growing so we kept buying it bigger and bigger goldfish bowls. I kid you not, in the end it was the size of a small dog! Every time I walked past it used to leap out of the bowl before somersaulting once more into the depths. I felt like it was trying to tell me something. I couldn't shake the feeling there was something more to these seemingly nice-but-dim underwater creatures. 'The Fisheye – Rumble in the Pond' has confirmed my suspicions once and for all. The book really helped me to face my fear and embrace the true depth of the nature of gold fish. The amazing 464 fisheye shots in the book have really been therapy for me. The view through the fisheye is a bewitchingly distorted wonderland. All the tips, tricks and funky techniques were a real eye-opener- I never go out without my fisheye camera now." So there you have it. The Fisheye: Rumble in the Pond is overflowing with more freshly caught fabulous fisheye frames than a fisherman's fishiest fishing net. A generous helping of tips, tasty tricks and techniques. Heavily salted with the profiles of our fisheye fanatic Lomographers. This fishy literary treat could be yours for a special discounted price when you buy it together with either the Fisheye or the Fisheye 2 camera. Go Fish.

Holga: World through a plastic lens Holga, Holga, Holga. That's all I hear. To be honest I had no interest in reading a book devoted to this cheap, light-weight, plastic hussy. My ex was completely obsessed with her- "Oh! Look at her light leaks, and the vignette around the edges and her soft focus..." bla, bla, bla. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I was not a fan. People told me I should give her a chance and a friend recommended taking a look at the Holga: World Through a Plastic Lens book. I was amazed! When I read the book I started to see the world through her eyes; an aching beautiful, inspiring, unpredictable mystery. The book is also full of self-help tips and techniques, which I personally found really thought-provoking and helpful. Life through Holga's lens is really something that everybody needs to experience. Holga's world is truly an inspiration. 308 pages full-to-bursting with over 500 images, submitted by Holga's many Lomographic fans! It could change the way you see things.

Hmmm. After flicking through 60 photos of the world from Justin Quinnell's mouth I couldn't help but wonder whether he had been fed enough as a baby. Freud would undoubtedly have a lot to say on the matter. I, however, am not Freud. Justin Quinnell marvels at the unexplored possibilities of Pinhole photography – personally, I am a little frightened about where the perspective of his next book will come from... Definitely a great Christmas stocking-filler or Valentine's Day gift. There is something inexplicably romantic about seeing Venice's St Mark's Square from behind teeth. Something strangely erotic about witnessing hot pink toe nails edging closer to the mouth (ergh!) Also, if you have been wondering what you can give your dentist- nothing says 'thanks for the filling' like the Mouthpiece Book".
This truly is essential viewing for those who think they have seen everything. If you buy The Mouthpiece Book together with the SmileyCam Pinhole camera you save $5! Bargain!
