 The LOMO BMW X3 Project results & the greatest LomoWall ever in Beijing
The worldwide Lomo BMW X3 snapshot competition‚ You Are Never The Same is drawing to a close, and what a contest it has been!
In a breathtaking and highly exciting and excessively rigorous jury sitting in the Lomographic Society headquarters, the finalists were selected from over 12,000 images. The 4 winners and their passengers have fixed the routes for their adventure trip in a BMW X3 and will soon be waxing delirious about the basics of mobility. And now to air the secret: The venue for the final exhibition of the international Lomo BMW X3 competition has now been officially fixed. The largest LomoWall of all time (over 200 metres long) is to be presented in Beijing during the Lomography World Congress 2004, from 29 June to 4 July. A lomographic exhibition, the likes of which the world has never seen – as usual brilliantly designed by the Lomography Architecture Team and at a formidable location in the city, the Ritan Temple Park.

And so for weeks now the Lomography GHQ in Vienna has been topsy-turvy while, in a marathon of 24 hour, 7 day weeks, plans have gone ahead for the World Congress and the largest ever LomoWall – including the building, the sticking, the organising, the communication and the shipping of same. This premiere is worthy of great acclaim – the Lomo Project Team has given most wonderfully of its utmost to ensure that this event actually happens.
Here we require a note: hundreds of lomographers have followed a variety of themes and faced up to the most incredible challenges: You Are Never the Same, double exposure, frogeye shots, images from the new EU member states. Each of these is to be expressly thanked individually for their contribution!
This flood of images now has to be tamed before they can be presented to a world-wide audience. It is one of the most beautiful challenges ever to have been confronted by the Lomographic Archive Team. And what this actually looks like in practise can be explored at: www.lomohomes.com/BeijingWall

 The LOMO SAN MIGUEL Challenge Contests in Barcelona & the rest of the world
The LomoTension is mounting in Barcelona in June: Music, party, action, sweat, love & hate, angels, evils, heat, hot dancing & cool beer... We, the Lomographic Society and San Miguel, have traditionally had a link to tension in general and to these themes in particular. NOTE: San Miguel beer is good stuff – and seriously cosmopolitan. This is a contest that thrives from the lifestyle thang shared by San Mig. beerists and lomographers alike – a true co-operation.
Accordingly, we are launching a mammoth lomographic contest. We want to gather the most extraordinary, spontaneous and amusing images to show how people in Barcelona, all over Spain and all around the world envisage their ideas about sound, love, emotion and San Miguel with their (your!) lomographic trials, experiments and... virtuosity!
The topics: Sound is in the Air – Love & Sex are in the Air – Emotion is in the Air – San Miguel is in the Air
The prizes: The two best entries win a trip to one of San Miguel's summer desert clubbing events in Spain (each worth 750 euro) – locations and date still to be announced; a whole load of runners-up (30 Special edition Colorsplash cameras, 30 T-shirts by designer Josep Abril, 30 Sonar CDs).
On the occasion of the Sonar (festival for advanced electronic music) the LomoSanMiguel zone at Sonar by day, from June 17 to June 19 is presenting an excellent exhibition around the project’s theme. You can borrow lomographic cameras direct from the zone, to participate in the LomoSanMiguel contest.
And what's more... Lomographers around the planet are heartily invited to accompany us to Barcelona for the event. The first 30 participants in the contest automatically receive a free ticket to the Sonar festival.
We would also like to use this exceptional lomographic affair to celebrate the official inauguration of the new Lomography Embassy. Ambassador Tanja Grass and her team are arranging a truly lomographic city programme line-up, and will support Lomographers in planning their trips on request.

 100 Years Lomography & Lomo Doma – Doma, another great LomoTrip to St. Petersburg
100 (!) Years of Lomography and Lomo Doma – Doma (Lomo at Home, at home!) – occasion enough for us to undertake another fine trip to the legendary and much-loved city of St. Petersburg.
We are celebrating a glorious 100 years of Lomography (90 years of the Lomo PLC factory and 10 years of Lomography in Russia!). We are celebrating the equally glorious first home match for the Russian mega-show Lomo Doma – Lomo at Home, at home in St. Petersburg. These being two lomographic projects that created an international sensation at last year's Frankfurt Book Fair. How much to celebrate? Spain and the weddings: Review/ Lomographic SplashWeddingFlash
Madrid was the arena of a truly splashing festivity on 22 May. The Lomographic Embassy and its flock celebrated the royal wedding of the Spanish prince. More than 60 Lomographers participated in the SplashWeddingFlash Competition and filled out their posters. All the images can be seen at the Lomography Shop Madrid on Friday 28 June, 2004, at 7pm.

Electric Lomo Guitar project in Porto
The Lomography Embassy Porto renders a homage to an essential icon of pop culture, the electric guitar. It has been thought to be doomed on many occasions, but not only does it keep on, it also sounds better than ever every time it makes a comeback. The competition asks for free associations to the subject - Riffs, rock and roll, action, stage antics etc. The best works will be on display during the Vila do Conde film festival July 3 to July 11.
