The Lomographic Society Proudly Presents
Two Thousand and Four,

As this grand year winds to a close, we have one more critically important occasion to remember. With a little bit of creative math, we are formally announcing the 100-year Anniversary of LOMOGRAPHY: 10 years of friendship between LOMO PLC and Lomographic Society International, and 90 years of the esteemed LOMO PLC factory in St. Petersburg, Russia.

For your knowledge of and insight into this grand partnership, we have just smacked the champagne bottle against a brand new Microsite (www.lomography.com/lomohistory), that will hold an ever-expanding collection or rare history, sounds, pictures and artwork.

And to further commemorate this special occasion, allow us to introduce the world's first Limited Edition Lomo Compact Automat. Only 936 units of this leather-wrapped beauty will be produced, and only 200 will be available on www.lomography.com. Each piece features a certificate of authenticity and a unique backside emblem designed by the famous Russian artist Alexander Djikia. As a bonus, you'll also receive a CD ROM that documents the long history of Lomo PLC. Take a deep breath, and scroll down to a fax by Mr. Alexander Aronov, Chairman of the Board of Lomo PLC, to learn more.
Dear Lomographers all over the planet,

as you maybe know, we are celebrating 100 years of Lomography this year. 100 years of Lomography, that means 90 years of LOMO-PLC in St. Petersburg and 10 years of friendship between LOMO PLC and Lomographic Society International. As the source of all this cooperation and friendship is the LOMO Compakt Automat, we produced 936 pieces of a very special limited edition of this camera. We never did this before, so it is our special present from LOMO PLC to all Lomographers of the world to show how much we are honored to support this worldwide movement.

If you want to learn more about LOMO PLC, which is located in St. Petersburg and manufactures LOMO-compact, you can get another very special thing in the Lomographic headquaters in Vienna: the LOMO CD "It`s time for optics!". It will provide you with a short guided tour through our history.

All the best to your lomographic adventures

Alexander Aronov
Chairman of the Board
LOMO PLC
The backside emblem of the Limited LC-A was designed by the famous russian artist Alexander Djikia.

Mr. Djikia explains the background of his artwork: "Wow! The brown croco leather looks fantastic - and absolutely authentic, I didn't see anything like that - and it really fits the idea of a camera.Crocodile Gena was a very famous character of the Russian animation with the main character called Cheburashka, they are going to produce this animation again as series in Japan as I know. Crocodile Dandy too. There are good references, and also the first Russian cameras used to have leather covers, often in brown."
